Winchester Function and Cultural Venue
The Regency Splendour of the Assembly Room provides the perfect setting for your social or cultural event. It was the centre of Winchester Society in the 18th century and is a splendid room for classical concerts, having hosted Niccolo Paganini and Franz Liszt in the past.
St John's House is ideally located in the heart of Winchester very close to all local transport links.
Other rooms are available for smaller functions.
Winchester's Historic Meeting Place
St. John's House is a Grade 1 listed building dating back to the 14th Century. In the 18th Century the first floor was dramatically altered to provide an elegant Assembly Room where the wealthy citizens of the day attended balls, dinners and concerts including recitals by the man who taught Jane Austen to play the piano. The original 18th Century stucco plasterwork is a fine example of Regency craftsmanship.
